Gene Wilder truly took the Willy Wonka role seriously. He wanted the reaction from Peter Ostrum (Charlie) to be authentic for the “You lose!” rant so he downplayed it in rehearsal and blew up when the camera was rolling.

It feels like when Robin Williams passed. I want to add the “Harsher in Hindsight” tag, even though I know it doesn’t actually apply in any way.
 
I’m gonna miss you, Gene. Nobody could get Frankenstein’s monster to tap dance like you could (and only you seemed to notice that the hump switched sides every other scene). You were a genuine treasure. We were lucky to have you for as long as we did. Rest easy, friend, and know that your movies have immortalized you in our hearts forever.
 
To me, there’s only one Willy Wonka.

Man, I always loved Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, a classic, RIP Gene Wilder.

RIP Gene Wilder, you may have only done a total of five memorable movies in life (Willy Wonka, Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, and those two with Richard Pryor) but you were wonderful in all of them (even if I did like the Tim Burton version of CatCF better) it’s sad to see him go.

Man does anyone else being as shocked as Charlie when this scene happened? Wonka was an unpredictable madman that only someone as mad as Wilder could play.

This is both funny and sad at the same time. The funny part is that this quote never gets old. The SAD part is that the genius behind it is now gone.
