From the day we arrive in Zimbabwe
And blinking, step into the sun
There’s more to hunt than can ever be hunted
More to shoot than can ever be shot
There’s far too much to take in here
More to kill than can ever be killed
But the sun rolling high
Through the sapphire sky
Keeps hunter and hunted in the endless hunt
It’s the circle of life
And it moves us all
When a mare’s gotta eat
Where else will she get her meat?
‘Till we find our place
In the intestine winding
In the circle
The circle of life!
One year ago, a Minnesotan Dentist made himself a pariah by going to Zimbabwe, buying a hunting permit, and shooting an animal on a game reserve. A bunch of pretentious westerners who have never seen a lion in the wild bombard him with hate mail and call for him to be hanged. Seriously? It’s just a lion! The people of Zimbabwe didn’t even bat an eye when this happened, and are confused about why people are so upset about the death of a lion when human children die all the time.
