In terms of raw power nightmare moon has the edge however ansem can only be defeated by light based weapons and attacks neither of which nightmare moon has access to so eventually she will start to slip from using up her magic and once that happens ansem will either absorb her,banish her to the darkrealm, turn her into a heartless or outright kill her.

Disney Hercules is a pretty big wussbag, though. He’s just Gaston but nice. At any rate I don’t place anyone in KH pretty highly on the overall RPG power scale aside from maybe Mally and the bonus bosses/arena cameos.  
The ‘worlds’ that get destroyed are tiny enough to be towns in any other setting, after all.

@gg666 Meh, the game flip-flops on how ‘unstoppable’ the heartless are (Chicken Little could freaking kill them) then again that’s just gameplay and doesn’t really mean shit in the story.

  1. The Elements are only powerful when being used. Otherwise, they’re just a fancy set of jewelry.
     
  2. The Elements don’t seem to provide any protection when being simply worn, and the Mane 6 didn’t even get them until after Nightmare Moon had made her circuitous attacks.
     
    Also, I’m pretty sure that ASoD and Nightmare Moon would quit fighting and start looking for a room after they finish their opening speeches.

even if she was as powerful as you say. Ansem is a heartless and a sentient one at that, the keyblade is pretty much the only thing that has a chance against them.

I probably attribute far more power to NMM than I should. But I also factor in the fact that the Mane6 are innately linked to the elements, which I believe are basically weapons powerful enough to fight gods. And if NMM could even touch the Mane6 indirectly, then she’s pretty buckin’ powerful. I’ve already explained elsewhere, but I’m fairly certain that the Elements have been established as basically a moveable Deus Ex Machina, as unfortunate as that is.

Hah, as if. She couldn’t even lay a hand on the Mane6, the only thing she did was attack their freindship, and rather horribly I might add. Heck, discord did a far better job at tearing them apart.
