Yeah I was kinda hoping they would explore that. I mean the ponies in Our Town had to be somewhat similar to Troubleshoes since their Cutie Marks also caused them pain in some way. Maybe not as a misunderstanding of theirs but something similar at least. It’s weird that the premiere says that she’s wrong for going against a flawed system. I mean of course she’s wrong the methods she were using obviously put her as wrong.
 
I honestly hope that they at least address this in the future since it has massive potential for Starlight and to expand how Equestria works even if they do have to retcon a few things though judging from how they handled her so far I don’t really have high hopes.

Yeah. While Equestria probably isn’t deliberately cruel in its assignment of cutie marks, there must be plenty of ponies like Troubleshoes who, for one reason or another, spend at least years suffering under a misinterpretation or the like.
 
The difference between poison and medicine is the dose; the difference between taxation and theft is the law. If Sunset had simply developed her cutie mark removal spell and offered it consensually, she’d probably have become rather famous. She’s obviously a very skilled magician, given all the highly complex spells she’s developed on her own.

It’s funny because I’m pretty sure he would join her town in a instant if given the choice. Kinda dissapointed that the premiere destroyed such an idea for potential like this.
