1 and 3 are easily fixed: Let ponies know about it and cast it again if you need to.
 
As for 2 and 4, maybe somepony else could cast it for them? I don’t see why there wouldn’t be unicorns who did spellcasting for hire.

  2. I’m not sure the average unicorn could cast it.  
  3. The spell probably wears off eventually.  
  4. One of the parents has to be a unicorn.

At least you could sort of say Twilight sort of earned her better than others-mutations.

Actually, Spike did the smart thing by convincing Twilight Sparkle to let him and Starlight Glimmer go off on her friendship lesson. That way he got away from the baby and the chaos surrounding it. He saw what it did to Shining Armor, after all.
 
Spike was in good form this episode.
