They’d need to change the entire art direction of the game then so they don’t look out of place. Throwing something with as little texture as the SFM pony models into an environment as richly and photo-realistically textured as their game’s environment would make a pretty poor contrast. To make it work they’d need to go back and repaint all the textures. They’re there already, might as well work on and tweek it.
If only the different they went with wasn’t so creepy.
Funny thing is from what I heard a bunch of the people working on the game used to do Source Filmmaker stuff. I think they just want to be different.

no, this thing passes trough the bridge of forgotten, the oblivion swamp, turn left at the crater of forgotten times, over the beach of desolation, and right in the land of burn it with fire before it lay eggs
I hope these aren’t the final models it feels like they’re trying to be too realistic.
