@ace: These just have mechanisms inside ‘em; I don’t think they take batteries.

(Though, in my defense, Derpibooru hadn’t yet applied the spoiler thumbnail to it at the time, IIRC.)

…and JUST NOW I notice that the image linked in the description (>>106017) did get spoiler tagged before that whole discussion started. WOW, I feel stupid…
Background Pony #9380
@Prof.NightJack: I get what you mean about the name, though; I had mis-called it because the only train parts in the toy set titled “Friendship Express Train” are the engine and a railroad cart.
Background Pony #9380
@Prof.NightJack: Sweetie Belle’s Ice Cream Train Car and Fluttershy’s Nursery Train Car are both in the show as well (as its usual first and second cars); they just look even more different than their toys and aren’t associated with Sweetie Belle or Fluttershy. But even if they weren’t in the show, the engine itself definitely is, so…

…what are we even debating at this point? (I guess the derail itself got derailed, by rail vehicles no less!)

Ok it seem you don’t know this, train engines(part that is both in the toy and show) are not named things like Friendship Express, that’s the whole train that gets the name as it’s, so like I said, it’s not the train.
Now I grew up with Thomas the Tank Engine, the engines are the ones with the names people know but some of them would pull train cars and all of them together would have a name as well, the Friendship Express with out the cars is no longer the Friendship Express.
Background Pony #9380
@Prof.NightJack: They’re both pink train engines with heart-shaped front windows; the show version even got changed from blue to pink between the openings of “Luna Eclipsed” and “Sisterhooves Social” (probably to look more like the toy). And The Friendship Express DVD cover was never a spoiler, since its cover art wasn’t revealed until after that.

Also the friendship express toy and the one in the show look nothing alike and have nothing the same other then the name, the DVD “The Friendship Express” was as much a spoiler as the toy.

@Prof.NightJack: The train from “Over a Barrel” and Granny Smith’s flashback in “Family Appreciation Day” is a different one. Also, Crystal Motion Applejack having a Sweet Apple Acres backdrop is exactly why it isn’t spoiler tagged; it’s the toy packages with new backdrops that are spoiler tagged.

First of, the Friendship Express was seen in Over a Barrel, before it was released, not named but it was there.
Second, Pony Wedding don’t count as Hasbro was telling everyone of it before it “A Canterlot Wedding” and even then, nothing was spoiled.
And third, the Applejack one has a backdrops of the fields of Sweet Apple Acres, most packaging has backdrops that show places that we already know.

Prof.NightJack: The Spoiler Guidelines say "If in doubt, add spoiler tags - even marginal spoilers should be appropriately tagged." So we're technically expected to go even further and tag the toys with blocky eye shines as spoilers, since those eye shines are also used on the ''Adventures in the Crystal Empire'' DVD cover.   Gomenasai: But S3 has already had some toys tied to the show’s premise (Crystal Empire) released in advance, and besides, many toys are announced and/or leaked in advance (Friendship Express Train before “Lesson Zero”, Pony Wedding before “A Canterlot Wedding”).

In any case, I still don’t see why this is being discussed in the comments here when this image was never spoiler tagged.

Chances are it’s all unrelated to the show’s story. Neither S1 nor S2 had toys tied to the show’s premise released in advance.

OH NO, a generic background will spoil the plot of season 3…
No really, the images used for them are so generic, info like a bio or sothing I can understand but the backdrops, no it’s just a background image.
Background Pony #9380
Uh, neither this image nor the one linked in the description are spoiler tagged.

The Crystal Empire toy images that are spoiler tagged are that way because their packaging backdrops are presumably taken from Season 3.

There already were articulated toys in G4 before these. And they didn’t have these weird ass cutie marks.

The gimmick in these particular ones is that if you push the button on their CMs they move their heads up and down. Boring stuff.
The Shine Bright had horn light up feature and something else, I forgot.
