It ‘twas a joke. If things were that bad, then Pilgrims would have killed themselves off very quickly. Typically you have to be socially outcast (hermit + widely disliked), old, at least somewhat ugly, have a bad/mean attitude, and be weird in order to be eligible to be accused of witchcraft. I’m sure there are exceptions, but from what I’ve read it seems like that’s the general rule :q
Even in the heart of Salem odds were probably like 1/100, I very much doubt Flutters would be accused, even there.
